Royal Castle of Amboise



5 minutes by car - Royal residence which saw François 1st grow up, the Royal Castle of Amboise overlooks and offers a breathtaking view of the Loire, the island d'Or and the city center. Built in the 15th and 16th centuries by Charles VIII, Louis XII and François 1st, it is the first royal residence of the French Renaissance and houses the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci in its chapel.

Château Gaillard



2 minutes by car. This small Italian palace surrounded by the first gardens of the French Renaissance was rediscovered and after 5 years of renovation opened its doors to the public . Dreamed up and built by Charles VIII on his return from the Italian Campaigns in 1496, the Royal Domain of Château Gaillard was the property of 3 kings of France, Charles VIII, Louis XII and François 1st. Château Gaillard is an evocative, inhabited palace, furnished in the spirit of the First Italian Renaissance.

The Pagode of Chanteloup



5 minutes by car - The Pagode of Chanteloup, an architectural craziness from the 18th century, is located in the heart of the Loire castles, within a 14-hectare park. The only remains to the castle of the Duke of Choiseul destroyed in 1823, the Pagode offers from the top of its 40 meters height, a magnificent panorama over the castle of Amboise, the forest and the Loire Valley. Market of Amboise



The weekly markets of Amboise take place on the market square, on the banks of the Loire. The famous, vibrant Sunday morning market has nearly 200 diverse traders. Elected in 2015 as France's favourite market.

Chenonceau Castle



15 minutes by car - This is the most visited private monument in France. Chenonceau Castle is famous for its magnificent gardens as well as for its design elegantly traversing over the river Cher. Originally taken under the royal household by Francois 1st as a payment of debt, the Chateau under King Henry 2nd became known as Château des Dames after gifting it not to the Queen but instead Diane de Poitiers and later the residency of other French noble women. During the great war it was converted into a military hospital with more than 2,200 soldiers being treated there.
